Stablemen, Veterinarian & Agister’s Liens
No matter how great your clientele is, most every equine professional, at some point in their career, runs into the problem of client nonpayment. Nonpayment of board, training, or veterinary fees can have a significant impact on your business’s overhead.
Many states offer stable owners, veterinarians, and trainers a solution: an Agister’s lien. An Agister’s lien is a lien, usually provided by statute, on an animal as security for fees of a person who has fed or cared for that animal.
If you are a veterinarian, trainer, or facility owner who has come to a dead end attempting to collect outstanding fees, consider contacting Kelly to guide you through the lien process.
